Who We Are
The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) is a cluster within the National Parks Board (NParks). Formed on 1 April 2019, it is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the First Responder for all animal-related feedback.
What We Do
AVS safeguards the health and welfare of animals. Singapore remains free from animal diseases of economic and public health importance, such as rabies and avian influenza through cross-boundary exchange and interdisciplinary co-operation. With comprehensive and integrated programmes through working with our human health counterparts, we continue to ensure that both animals and humans in our nation stay healthy and safe from such threats.
We also work closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare.
As the first responder for all animal-related feedback, AVS is the main touch-point for animal-related issues whether they occur in parks, nature reserves, or other parts of our city.
The cluster also actively works with the community, such as pet owners and businesses, animal welfare groups and the general public, to protect and promote the welfare of animals through regulation and education, such as encouraging responsible pet ownership. Through our public education and engagement programmes, we aim to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our biophilic City in Nature.
